NEW FACE FOR 2009, PERHAPS?

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!

Just returning from vacation in Disney World, and could not wait to take a minute to wish you all the very best in this new year of 2009.

I loved this photo, so asked my VA and photographer to share it with you for the New Year.

People make resolutions each year and a new face by itself, without legs, will be in the same space, with the same look and feel when 2010 arrives.

Yet, from all that I read and experience myself, and what clients experience, much of what causes resolution failure is what thoughts are running through our heads.

What will your new face look like? More smiles, more joy, perhaps? What are you willing to do to provide the "more"? Or, what are you willing to do to create or change an environment? Each room of your house can be considered a separate environment, as a way to start.

There are a lot of small concepts in this post, and as the next few weeks pass, I will be chewing on these and a few more.

But, without further delay, I will publish this post, and move onto the rest of my evening here in the East. I know there are people in the West who read this blog, and wish you a very nice evening out there. You have a longer evening from this time point; however, we in the East will be up earlier tomorrow.

I wish you all a very blessed evening and to all, a good night.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!!!

A simple, yet heartfelt wish to you all that you are having a blessed, and very, very, very Merry Christmas.

It is a time of economic challenge. What are you doing differently this year? My gift to the adult members of the family is Christmas Dinner and a central point to gather together. Foregoing gifts to adults I focused on the children, including baby Jesus.

Now I'm preparing to arrive in time to see my 19 month old grandson open up his Christmas presents from Santa.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!

Avenue D Reading Program

Previously, I have not had a redo of a blog post. This one, to me, is deserving or at least is worth another post from my perspective. I just returned from a visit to the Avenue D Reading Program. Wow - I am going back again, as often as I can. Here is the website:

http://sites.google.com/site/avedreading/Home

Yes, it is in an area that most people would rather not be in. Yet the kids are there not by their own design. In effect they are prisoners of their surroundings, or could believe that and behave that way. Yet these kids (various age groups) are reading, learning, and smiling and singing. They are getting positive feedback and reinforcement. They are receiving and accepting boundaries. They are getting snacks and meals, and they are beginning to thrive within themselves.

This program needs people - the children need people. For those in the Rochester area who have the time, and would like to get more information, please don't hesitate to email me at itsyourlifenet@yahoo.com. I can meet you there, perhaps if you are uncertain. I can answer questions and/or connect you with others.

This is a very, very, very special program. So much is being done with books. It is not just about books; however, that is the attraction, the connection the draw.

The hours are Mon - Fri. 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. I know it is difficult if you have a full-time job. However, if there is anyone who finds they have perhaps, 3 months available, please consider it. Today I learned a bit about Pokeymon, and I look forward to what else I will learn by getting involved.

OK - off my soapbox, and thanks for listening. If this did not speak to you, if you would like to tell me what you want to hear, I will also be glad to listen and oblige.
Thank you to all who read this blog, you inspire me.

JOB SEARCH ASSISTANCE

Here is a resource for everyone job hunting, or job hating, or ... let me know, as I'm just starting to read the blog myself. It will need to wait a bit for me, as I'm preparing for a job fair this afternoon. However, I personally know the source and writer of the blog. She is dynamic and a valuable resource in person within workshops.

Without delay, I wanted to post the blog here - and will provide it as a link also. As I'm also looking for a day job - I want to share what I learn, with whatever resources I can for others in the true ----- A Tidbit form.

Here it is:

Let me know what you think, and please don't hesitate to comment on her blog. You are the fuel for us writers, so, please provide input. It is VERY MUCH appreciated.

A FAITH BUSTER - note change with adding "not" just for senior citizens

The three-letter word EGO can disrupt, undermine and create havoc in our faithful Christian lives.

Yet, it can become a subtle challenge or a humongous force that totally disrupts your life without you being aware. Picture a virus coursing through your veins (not visible or obvious). It twists and gnarls around and through your body and brain pushing away thoughtfully creative visions and thoughts.

Thoughts of YOU get bigger, bigger, and bigger until they take over. The space for Faith begins to be crowded out, pushed aside, squeezed into a shot glass and crammed into a dark secluded corner into sludge.

Living in FAITH is not ALWAYS sweet and cushy. It takes exercise, it takes courage to be different sometimes.

This time of year can be challenging - job hunting? Me too. Each day I continue to check into Faith -and ask - Is it there? Is it being pushed aside?

EVERYONE is getting older each day, so the following is not just for senior citizens -- our spirit, like the cells of the body, is changing continually. Faith allows us to flow and not get "stuck" in the ME.

"The Devotional Bible" by Max Lucado

2 Corrinthians:4:16-
"So we do not give up. Our physical body is becoming older and weaker, but our spirit inside us is made new every day. We have small troubles for a while now, but they are helping us gain an eternal glory that is much greater than the troubles. We set our eyes not on what we see but on what we cannot see. What we see will last only a short time, but what we cannot see will last forever."

GO GREEN - SILVERWARE CLEANER

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!!!!!!

After a myriad of plans, shopping, cleaning and preparation, the day has arrived. I am grateful and thankful for so many things. Especially, first of the day to be thankful to God who has graced this area with no snow storms or wind/ice storms.

Yet, every perfect holiday seems to have something that can cast a shadow. Not to differ, as I began to set the table I noticed the holiday silverware had a brownish cast to it. Uh-Oh! A search under the sink did not reveal any silver cleaner. What to do? First, not panic!

Aluminum Foil, Baking Soda and Hot Water came to the rescue. Put aluminum foil at the bottom of the sink, add HOT water and baking soda. Soak the silver. It may take a few baths to complete the process.

No harsh chemicals or the need to stand and rub, wipe, wash and dry. Simply soak.

My sincere apologies -- no before and after pictures.

Have tips? Please comment so the whole A-Tidbit community can benefit.
Also -- not in the mood for the holiday, yet something changed? For me, it was watching the Rockets on the Macy's Parade. I'm charged and ready for the day. You?

This tip has been provided by my photographer/VA - also the creator ofassistyousucceed.blogspot.com. She advises me that the site is still alive, and she will vibrantly return by next week.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Best wishes to each of you and your families this 2008 holiday season for a delightful, warm and very Happy Thanksgiving.

"God can only do for you what He can do through you." - Eric Butterworth

This is a perfect opportunity to think about the above quote. With Faith we believe that God is with us and we with him. Yet it is not about waiting for him to do something for us. It is up to us to do what he asks, and take steps, perhaps tiny ones first. Through you --- others will see joy, opportunity and possibility.

Thanksgiving is a perfect time to truly be thankful and prepare for Christmas and the other celebratory holidays within religions other than Christian.

Suggestion: Take an empty box or create a manger. Pick up some straw, hay or that something you are comfortable with in the house without bugs or that collects mice. Collect the family and discuss the following: With every "unsung" good deed, each person places a piece of straw in the box. By Christmas envision a very comfy, warm place for the baby Jesus to lay.

Happy, Happy Thanksgiving to one and ALL!

P.S. Roy and family, I will be thinking of you in Vermont. What are others doing? I'm here cooking for a few in this home, and feeding a few in another where a friend is recovering from foot surgery.

Namaste!!!

SOMETHING GOOD IN THE NEWS?

Check out http://www.odemagazine.com/

for a different perspective beside doom, gloom, etc. etc. There are positive slants on everything - there are positive outcomes, there are positive perspectives. There are also challenges, challenges, and more challenges. Yet, without looking at something differently, and doing something differently, one gets the same result.

Suggestion: Check it out - and begin to tweak something into something else. Make it a game - find others with the same challenge. Put heads together - create a contest - stand on your head. Or, perhaps switch challenges if they are similar, yet different. You solve the others persons, and they look to solve yours. Then get together over coffee and share brainstorming.

"The Shack"

"The Shack" by William P. Young

This book will captivate you, perhaps not at the beginning. I kept reading, and with a very short time I believed I was truly witnessing God. This book was borrowed. I will buy this book to read it again, and again.

I cannot say the beginning, to this reader, was well written. I suggest check out Amazon and read a portion. For those who have read it, or do read it, please post a comment.

This book might raise a question in your life. It also might take steps to heal you, if there is healing to be done.

What are you reading?

Oh, just returned from a few days away. Thus the very quick previous post. Yet, not takers, interesting. Are your minds open? Open enough? I'm still working on that and many other things.

Happy Wednesday!!!!

Hate and Dislike Trap US - The TARGET Is Unaffected

"Hate traps us by binding us too tightly to our adversary." Milan Kundera

I remember as a small child saying and thinking, "I hate this..." or "I hate that..." As a 7-year old, my hate was directed at a glass of milk getting warmer and warmer as it sat on the dining room table waiting for me to drink it. What is non-existent and, such a small issue today, appeared huge and looming when I was 7.

When we get older the targets seem to get larger, and more negative energy is transferred from our thoughts to our feelings. What resonates with me about this quote are the words, "binding us too tightly..."

Hate cripples the person hating, not the person being hated. It crippled the milk, which obviously, did not respond or react. The same thing happens with a person being hated if she/he has moved on or is unaware or uncaring about our feelings.

Replace the word "hate" with "dislike," "very annoyed with," etc. See what arrives.

Suggestion: Perhaps consider the hated target as milk. That will be great if you like milk. You might move from hate to -- something else less dark. If you don't like milk, there are alternatives. It may seem simplistic; however, your feelings are your choice. Choose to move past milk, and find something else to occupy your energy. Volunteer - find a coach - or? What will you do? If you do find something, please post it as it might help others.

Thanks again very much to all that are commenting - your energy and thoughts, and experiences are helpful to the whole Tribe of us. It is also so fun to see where you are living. Boston, Arizona, Hawaii, New York, North Carolina, etc.

Choose JOY - it is so fun to smile!

RELATIONSHIPS --- TOO CHRISTIAN?

Recently, a very interesting experience happened as a dating relationship ended. I walked away truly wishing him well, and feeling extremely good about myself.

Rather than the typical thoughts and distressed or angry feelings that he is so............, or he said this, or he did this, immediately there was a feeling of peace and comfort as I walked away from the almost three-month relationship.

It can happen - it can be healthy. The end of a relationship does not need to be traumatic.

This one ended with "him" saying to me, "I believe you are too Christian." There were other things leading up to that; yet, with that comment, I swiftly acknowledged that he and I were NOT destined to be yoked together in a serious relationship.

Suggestion: Come from a Christian perspective, and do not step away from your individual values. Last, yet so important, save intimacy until you are CERTAIN the relationship has a foundation.

Returning to a state of gratefulness for the opportunity and the lesson will return you to be ready for the next opportunity. You will be more aware of what you don't want, as well as what you want.

Best wishes for Joyful living, each and every minute!!!!!!

WEIGHT LOSS HELP - CALORIES COUNT-QUOTE AT BOTTOM

This post has been "festering" for awhile. Actually, it was buried on my desk, and it reappeared after I cleaned my desk. I could have saved it for January 1; however, why wait if it can help someone now.

Many people, once in their life, want to lose weight. OK -- it is a reoccurring theme for me. This helps me, perhaps it might help you.

The following formula will remove the guesswork out of the question "How many calories to eat to lose weight."

Written by Jean Bauch in a Democrat & Chronicle article, dated 4/23/06.

1. Calculate your actual weight in pounds. If you don't have a scale, visit your Dr.
2. For women - multiply weight by 12.
For men - multiply weight by 14.
3. Deduct 500 calories
4. Answer in calories.

For example, a 160# woman will target 1420 calories each day. A 160# man will target 1740. PLEASE NOTE: Women Please DO NOT GO BELOW 1200 Calories.

This number represents the number of calories to eat to drop approximately one pound each week. You may lose more in a week. You won't simply have to eat carrots.

Here is a tip. One carbohydrate serving is 80 calories. That is the size of a mini-Lender's bagel.

It takes 21 days to make something a habit. Just in time for the approaching holidays!

Take a step today - it will make a difference tomorrow. Take step two tomorrow - etc.

Keep a calendar of successes!!!

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit."- Aristotle

TIME FINDER - THINK YOU DON'T HAVE ENOUGH?

A Tidbit on - Where is the time? I never seem to have enough, and where does it go? Etc.

These are questions I have recently asked myself, in the past, and seemingly forever.

Yesterday, a three-minute egg timer was used in a resume review meeting. It seems a project for more and more people as jobs disappear.

What struck me for this Tidbit is how long three minutes seem to be while sitting silently watching sand slowly sift through the tube into the bulb below.

Today I am going to practice that process. I'm going to set the timer for, let's say 10 minutes and begin to pick up my bedroom. It has gotten a bit cluttered this past week, admittedly. Then I will pick another topic. The idea is to see what I can get done within a given amount of time.

I have experimented briefly before with this theory, and been very surprised at what can get done within two minutes. Now, I'm going to put the timer on, some music on and get busy.

I'll let you know what I discover. Without taking a step, nothing gets done.

Can you tell I have a bit of a focus challenge right now? Without a day job - there is nothing for me to NEED to specifically move for, getting accustomed to be ME is different - it is up to me to create that structured environment. This process might also be useful for people who have a day job, and don't seem to get around to getting "other" things done. It might be helpful for anyone with a "to do" list of any kind. Things that we have been tolerating, those myriad of small weights, which together can create havoc.

Not just for adults, create a game for your children -- create a goal, set the timer and create joy and value around the whole process. After all is not work then pay a reward system? I remember some fun activities I did with my children. I will share those as the days go by. I'm sure they had little financial cost, yet loads of fun.

Hey -- there are still a few "Squeeze Joy" silicone bands left. Great for gifts - part of a Christmas (holiday) grab bag - if your name is Joy, give it to your boyfriend or husband. Have questions? I typically have 2 for most things - send an email to itsyourlifenet@yahoo.com

It is Halloween though, and I might bite.
Happy Halloween!!!!!!

MAYA ANGELOU - A POEM

MAYA ANGELOU'S BEST POEM EVER

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ... enough money within her control to move out and rent a place of her own, even if she never wants to or needs to...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ... something perfect to wear if the employer, or date of her dreams wants to see her in an hour...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .. a youth she's content to leave behind....
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ... a past juicy enough that she's looking forward to retelling it in her old age....
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..... a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ... one friend who always makes her laugh... and one who lets her cry...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .... a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her family...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ... eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems, and a recipe for a meal, that will make her guests feel honored...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ... a feeling of control over her destiny..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW... how to fall in love without losing herself..
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW... how to quit a job, break up with a lover, and confront a friend without; ruining the friendship...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW... when to try harder... and WHEN TO WALK AWAY...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW... that she can't change the length of her calves, the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents..
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW... that her childhood may not have been perfect..but it's over...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW... what she would and wouldn't do for love or more...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW... how to live alone . even if she doesn't like it...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW.. whom she can trust, whom she can't, and why she shouldn't take it personally...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW... what she can and can't accomplish in a day... a month...and a year...

Best wishes for a Happy Monday. Consider selecting one to accomplish each year, or each month, or with a friend, or a coach, or a small group.

Men, please don't feel slighted - the word woman has the word "man" within. Pick one and have at it, or work with your spouse, friend, significant other to accomplish what you need or want.

Get What You Need - Instead of Being Angry

With lots of nudging from my Dr., I scheduled an appointment for a physical. It was not exactly easy to keep the appointment. I lost my day job at the end of September, and with it, my health insurance. So, I needed to schedule Cobra (yikes, it is expensive) for October. I have made other arrangements for the next few months (1/2 the cost of Cobra) until I get another day job.

I even asked and received a blood test slip, and had the blood test prior to the appointment. I arrived on the scheduled day at the scheduled time, and very quickly was advised that they did not have me scheduled for a physical that day. Apparently, someone else took my call and did not schedule the time correctly.

My first thought was to be angry, yet, I quickly realized what I truly wanted were the results of the blood test. As the nurse was making apologies, I asked if she could please provide the results of the blood test. I realized that was truly what I wanted to know. The cholesterol level, etc.

Within 10 minutes of my arrival I was preparing to leave. Everyone thanked me for being understanding about the circumstances, and not getting angry. I rescheduled the physical appointment for November, and left with the information I needed.

Also, I now had more time in my day to get the many other things done.

Apparently, anger is sometimes expected. When you don't comply, it benefits everyone.

*Please send ideas for getting a job in this current market. I am applying on the Internet, and I plan on physically showing up in a few businesses. Any thoughts on that procedure? They will be appreciated.*

BLOG DAY - POVERTY - WHAT CAN A PERSON DO?

A Tidbit:

The Answer to the Question of Poverty and what a person can do: Anything that you want to do will be beneficial. Now, please, simply do it.

Poverty is, unfortunately, endemic. Yet, it does not need to be. It is not all about the influx of money to solve the problem.

Every time you truly "LISTEN" to another, and provide support, without judgment, you are providing vast wealth to the other person. It does not necessarily take $$$$ that you do not have.

Suggestion: 1. Set aside some time to truly discover what is around you. Then determine the needs, and offer what time you can.

2. Be consistent. Once you decide your role, and create some time - be consistent. Many people have had fleeting support, and are distrustful of others.

3. Then, be open to discovery. You just might discover more from the experience than you believe you provide. Heard that before, yet not experienced it yet? Well then, don't you think it is time?

4. Make a Joyful Memory! Purchase a silicone bracelet or two - you will do both, benefit others and yourself. "Squeeze Joy Each Minute. Time Does Not Return, Yet Memories Do."

30% Of The Proceeds Will Benefit (2) City of Rochester, NY Charities (see below)

"Squeeze Joy Each Minute. Time Does Not Return, Yet Memories Do."

These are the agencies that will benefit (they help individuals, who help other individuals, who............):

1. The Avenue-D Christian Reading Program

Peter and Debbie, in conjunction with the Avenue D Community Center, Charity Bible Baptist Church, Roberts Wesleyan College, School #8 and V.J. Stanley, Inc. have launched a reading program for city youth. The program includes food, fun, and rewards as children increase their ability to read, comprehend and begin to practice another way of thinking and living. The experience provides another paradigm to the surrounding environment of poverty, unemployment, and violence.

In the neighborhood:

39% have a high school education;
43% (16 and older) are not in the labor force;
School 8 is persistently on NY State Education Department’s list of dangerous schools;
2400 families form a population of 36,000 who live below poverty level (28.9%)

A Christian approach is used; however, the program is not about making someone wrong. It increases their self worth, as well as creating value for their family and the entire neighborhood.

The donation will be used to provide a part-time, paid, facilitator from the neighborhood. Currently they are relying on volunteers, mostly from outside the neighborhood.

2. Ford Street – Youth for Christ Basketball Program

Geoff and a group of volunteers offer an environment of basketball and camaraderie. It is complete with shirts, food, trophies and a banquet. This also is a Christian endeavor designed to provide support, entertainment, and a physical outlet away from hanging out on the streets. They also provide great discussions, answer questions and offer a Christian viewpoint through truth and love. At $50 each, the donation will allow more youth (boys and girls) to participate.

SOMETHING SILLY, YET .....

http://www.groundwire.net/funwire.htm

There are silly games, on this site. You decide if they are suitable for your children. They remind me of old cartoons when they would bang each other around a bit. Groundwire is a link I discovered on klove.com. 104.9 in Rochester, NY, is the K-Love radio station. There is a station list on the site, if you are not in upstate NY, for example.

Here is today's - A Tidbit. How are my friends Roy, and the group from SU doing this fall and all of you others that pass by this blog? I'm excited about the gas prices coming down, yet not so about the stock market and the job market and the housing market and, and, and. How are you all doing? How about we begin a how do you save..... or, actually, continue, yet broaden the topic a bit with this community.

Now that we have lots of ideas about how to save gas, and I, for one, am continuing with those ideas, what other ideas do you have that we could try, or share? Is anyone saving at the grocery store? I think I might this week discover what you can make with a couple eggs, and whatever else is in my fridge.

Namaste!

LOVE - LOVE - LOVE

"For small creatures such as we, the vastness is bearable only through love." - Carl Sagan

A thought for today - to ahhhh, simply be in love with yourself, with your neighbor, with your car (even if it sputters), with the rain, with the clouds, with your job, with the person on your job who typically brings a frown to your face, and with the day in general.

Take a minute and smile at someone right to their eyes. Take a minute and open a door, and hold it for the next two people. Take a minute and hug your kids, regardless of their age. They will groan, yet inwardly smile. Take a minute to connect with someone who has been on your mind. Take a minute to smile - knowing there will be many more minutes to wrinkle your forehead and frown.

I found myself smiling thinking of you smiling - thank you for that gift.

TOUGH TIMES ECONOMICALLY

Yesterday, it took me 1/2 the day to make a decision on something I thought about doing. With all the bank and financial collapses, I finally made the decision that I may be a tiny pebble in the ocean; yet, even one small pebble creates a ripple.

What caught my attention yesterday was the announcement by Citicorp that it was suing Wells Fargo and Wachovia to acquire Wachovia. That actually incensed me to consider and finally send an email comment.

Citicorp, of course, has the right in the US to sue anyone. Yet, given the current economic condition and one reason, among many, is greed, Citicorp to me seems predatory, greedy, and just using muscle. They are suing for 60 million dollars. Even 1/2 of that amount donated to Habitat or another very worthy organization would be so attractive. I might even have switched banks.

I was grateful to hear today that the lawsuit is on hold. That is something I'm currently paying attention to.

Today, October 8, 2008 I paid attention, and this is what I noticed: NEW YORK (Fortune) -- Meredith Whitney, the über-bearish bank-stock analyst at Oppenheimer & Co., continues to tell clients to steer clear of the financial sector. But Whitney makes one exception: She tells Fortune that she likes the preferred shares of the "strong" U.S. banks - JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo.

Citicorp is not listed. Don't misunderstand me, I'm not happy about that. The list is getting smaller. Citicorp used to be No. 1, as a former JP Morgan Chase employee, they were wanna bees with regard to size. Actually, JP Morgan Chase was swallowed up by Bank One about 3 years ago, and kept the JP Morgan Chase name. So that, actually, is a horse of a different color.

My hope is not for Citicorp to get dashed, it is for all "power mongers" to recheck their values and ethics and begin to play the business game like the "good" kids playing in a sand box who have watchful parents near by. There are rules of etiquette that appear to have been forgotten. In particular the golden rule. See list in John C. Maxwell's book, "Ethics 101," on page 17.

"Christianity: 'Whenever you want men to do to you, do also to them.' Matthew 7:12

Judaism: 'What is hateful to you, do not do to your fellow man. This is the entire law; all the rest is commentary.' Talmud, Shabbat 31a, quote in "The University of the Golden rule in World Religion," www.teaching-values.com, 23 September 2002

Islam: 'No one of you is a believer until he loves for his neighbor what he loves for himself.' The Traditions of Mohammed, quoted at www.thegoldenrule.net, 23 September 2002."

These are examples.

SAY - and NOT DO?

Do you say and not do? It might seem insignificant, yet the world is listening. A year ago I had a thought, which became repetitive. Then I began to verbalize it, yet, it did not become reality. Well, stay tuned, that thought is becoming real. I will be sharing it with the world beginning Monday, October 13th. In time to celebrate Columbus Day!!!

It has taken me a year to think, say and then do. And today, I choose to not wonder why (OK, it is hard not to).

This thought began as a draft blog post weeks ago, yet today, it has evolved. Two weeks ago I purchased a post-note pad, having forgotten about this draft post. The saying is, "After all is said and done, more is said than done."

It could be bragging with nothing to back it up. It could be promises, not fulfilled. It could be, "I should," "I could," phrases thought over and over again.

Suggestion: Start with itty bitty (for some) or bigger bittys (for others) and do what you say or think. Or, make the decision to simply -- GET OVER IT. Move past - if it has been a long time, perhaps leave it for someone else to do. Pick another thought. Or, DO IT. I used to drive my son crazy with a saying I heard from a friend. "You can DO DO DO IT, If You put YOUR MIND To It."

So - stay tuned for Monday, October 13th - and, for those who have been asking, it is not a book, yet. That will be a bit longer process.

FAITH - STEP 1, PERHAPS

"Efforts and courage are not enough without purpose and direction." - John F Kennedy

This spoke to me today with regard to having Faith and living within Faith. From my perspective it takes both effort and courage to live a life within Faith. Effort is required to stay living in Faith and not be tempted, and courage to remain also in spite of the temptations of satan and others who are on a different path. Effort and courage together will help.

Yet - purpose and direction are tantamount to moving from the effort and courage stage to living within a standard of living a life of Faith. Any new beginning can be a bumpy ride. Example, watch a baby take his/her first steps. They fall, roll around, get frustrated occasionally; yet, they continue to get up and go again. They fall down and bump their head, cry in frustration. Yet, five minutes later, after a hug, and human and spiritual support, they are up and ready again. They have a sense of purpose and direction.

Live within purpose, and have FAITH - and be purposefully living in faith. Dust off the bumps, and stay within the direction. Or, perhaps, a direction adjustment with purpose and faith.

Suggestion: Like a child - have your snit, blow off steam, and then know in the morning, you will take a breath, check the purpose, check the direction and with faith take another, first step.

REDHOOK, NY - CARRIAGE SALE

Red Hook, NY is one of many small towns in the Hudson Valley. I had the priviledge and pleasure to visit with special friends this past weekend. The carriages pictured above are for sale.

These carriages are amazing - unfortunately I do not have descriptions, other than what I saw this past weekend. When the barn door opened, my eyes lit up. There is a surrey, complete with yellow wheels and fringe. The local school borrowed it for their play, "Oklahoma."

If anyone is interested or knows someone who might be, please email me at itsyourlifenet@yahoo.com.

And, know that I will be back writing very soon. Thank you to all who have posted on behalf of myself and the other readers -- when you share your thoughts you are helping others.

Sweet dreams.......

FORWARD OR BACKWARD - CHOICES, EACH

(Photo found on Flickr)

What a beautiful sunny day, the temperature is low 70s, all ahead in this precise minute is flat, calm and serene. Rather, I imagine, as it is today, as when riding in a motor boat on Lake Ontario. That is if you are in a boat facing forward.

If, however, you are facing aft, you will see rough water displaced by propellers forming the wake. Turbulent water huffs, puffs and churns creating a white, rough and frothy wave grasping and inhaling all small matter that happens in its path.

What are YOU focusing on?

Suggestion: Simply stated --- Face Forward at the end of the day. Finish your day to acknowledge and appreciate in worship. Then be in gratitude for all that you do have and for all that you are learning, and ....... sleep well.

POWER - INTERESTING ..........

"Beliefs have the power to create and the power to destroy." - Anthony Robbins

Yet -- true and real Faith, will provide energy, strength and support.

This is a quick one. I have had very minimal quiet time lately to create. I miss it. Yet, when something resonates, I simply feel an intense need to share.

Enjoy!!!!

A brief, yet sincere note of thanks to those who have shared recently. It is very much appreciated by me, and I can only believe by others who read the posts. The comments are many times, as rich as you perceive the blog posts to be. Cheers to this community - together is richer, more fulfilling than being a Lone Ranger!!!!!

Warm regards, Susan

FAITH - YOU ASKED

is as simply put as I believe it is difficult to do --it is about relinquishing every molecule of yourself and all those molecules around you. Faith is having the strength to give up and to let go. It is a rather large topic, and more to be said on the subject very soon - for sure.

I appreciate all of you. Thank you for your comments. In a way, you are staying in the shadows, yet I equate it to, perhaps being unable to see visually. The other senses take over. That is somewhat how I view faith. As I have learned to not hold things so tightly, so much more is felt and returned back to me. And, the returns are delightfully unexpected.

A Tidbit started over a year ago with thoughts, suggestions and ideas. It has moved in an entirely different direction on -- faith

Hey - happy Monday, or I guess, actually it is Tuesday - more to come......... Faith is a small word, yet it is packing a very, very, very large, wonderful concept.

Suggestion: Begin - walk away from something you want, or truly struggle with. Leave it up to faith - ask for it - yet leave it. Then pray and request to be relieved of the burden of holding on. This is a great place to start.

A NEW YOU - or SLIPPING INTO THAT COMFORTABLE SHOE?

Checking in -- Simply.

Perhaps, now with gas prices slipping, your new practice of slowing down, enjoying your ride, relaxing, etc. may be eroding.

It may be similar to any new process or change in paradigm that has been attempted before. What I have noticed with change, is that sometimes, the known, the comfortable seems larger and safer, more inviting. Yet, when I have taken a new road, even if narrow and a bit bumpy, the view at the end has been spectacular.

Again -- it's a thought. It also is hilarious to me that people are discussing lower gas prices when they are tipping below $4.00 a gallon U.S. Yet, that is an obvious $$ saving, combine that with less trips to the gas station - and, simply bank it. Like with an old Christmas Club account, create a new sofa, or vacation, or, or or account.

I'm off adventuring today. The Butterfly Conservatory in Canada and to (never been for me) Niagara-On-The-Lake. The sun is shining.

Squeeze joy - it is a option........

MOVING TOWARD SOMETHING DIFFERENT

As is typical of -A Tidbit, I'm moving along with another thought. My path this last week, drew me to the following site: http://www.biblegateway.com/

During church last week, the discussion was on Faith. Our Equipping Pastor followed up with an e-mail with the above link, and he included a couple bible passages to search for.

I found it very interesting, and simply offer it to you........

AMAN MOTWANE

With -A Tidbit in mind, here is a quote that spoke to me loudly.

"In every encounter, in every interaction, in every connection, did I make the world better or worse?"- Aman Motwane, "Yes, You Can Change the World"

If this is a new name to you, I suggest you Google him. My reading list right now is a mile high, and he will be on it as soon as possible.

Time to get ready for tennis today. Have a great one!!!!!!!

Tire Pressure - Can It Help?

"Management is efficiency in climbing the ladder of success; leadership determines whether the ladder is leaning against the right wall." - Stephen Covey

I read the above quote, and also heard about Barack Obama's comment about gas mileage and tire pressure as I was contemplating changing the blog topic today.

Interesting, I thought. I'm certain he has not seen this blog, yet he picked up on something we have been chatting about in this tribe of ours. (Anyone read Seth Godin's blog regarding Tribes and the new book he is writing?)

Personally, what I would have liked to have heard is that a reduction in fuel consumption is possible with people's greater responsibility and accountability with vehicle maintenance and use. For example, keep tires properly inflated.

More soon - I've been chillin a bit - summer is almost over, and I'm grabbing it's last breath.

What are you doing?

ANOTHER PERSON'S STORY - REGARDING FUEL CONSERVATION

CLARK COUNTY, Wash. - Vancouver resident Danni Brancaccio says she doesn't consider herself "super green." But an attempt to save some money on gas has led to an experiment in extreme fuel conservation that would make any tree-hugger proud. She is attempting to drive her car all summer on just one tank of gas. Brancaccio doesn't drive a gas-sipping hybrid and isn't towing around a trailer full of fuel. She drives an average Honda sedan that probably gets good mileage but has not been modified in any way. With just over a month of summer still left to go, the gas gauge is definitely tilting towards empty.

But Brancaccio isn't worried. Like many drivers, she's changed her routine to cut back on buying gas, but it's safe to say she has cut back much more than most people. Typically, she drives her car 1.5 miles to a park-and-ride facility where she gets on a bus with many other commuters and goes to work. She said she drives slower now and uses cruise control when possible to save gas.

The difference is that she now arrives an hour early due to the bus schedule. That's no problem, though, as it gives her time to read."I've read a lot this summer," she said as she relaxed in a lobby before going to work. "I've read about 10 books."Brancaccio also picks up rides from friends and sometimes borrows her mother's car to avoid using her own.

But she also walks a lot more and said she's switched from heels to flat shoes for more comfort. She says she still has many other tricks to use to stretch that last quarter-tank to the finish line. She thinks she can drive about 3 miles per day at the most and still make it. While she said she doesn't consider herself a staunch environmentalist, she "respects the fact that… we need to be wary about what we do" when it comes to fuel use.Brancaccio is tracking her experiment with a blog accessible through the Vancouver Colombian newspaper's Web site.

There was a previous post which asked for other ideas about what people can do to make a difference. I think the most important thing people can do --- is simply, begin. As mentioned in previous blog posts and comments, that which began as a project to conserve fuel, has evolved into multiple opportunities and benefits.

If you don't currently have stock in the oil industry, perhaps get some, or, how about taking steps to conserve, and use less. You will save, and the oil industry might have more need.

LEAD or FOLLOW

I heard there is a third choice - Get Out of The Way. I don't subscribe to this theory, yet Lead or Follow are interesting to me. Typically, people are doing one or the other. Are there others? Let me know what you think.

The reasons for this are my thoughts around cars, drivers and technology. Also, the transition to driving slower, and being more respectful to others and myself in the process. How many have noticed how easy it is, especially on an expressway, for the speed to creep up as cars pass or tail gate. Does it seem that you are alone, as cars whiz by?

I thought about this last week. I managed to maintain my speed, except for a couple situations. One was to allow cars to merge onto the expressway.

I thought about leading and not being a follower, and, again, the quote appeared -- "Be the change you want to see in the world." Mahatma Gandhi.

Are you slowing down to simply save money? If so that is wonderful!!!! Have you noticed anything else?

Personally, I'm going to continue to stay in touch with my personal values. One is to allow others to do what they choose, yet stay on course with what I choose. Also, I continue to learn from the posts on this blog, and watching and listening to others.

Just today, I had an appointment at 10:00 a.m. Let me set the stage. Stayed up late last night, Friday evening. Today is Saturday. Thus, I did not set my alarm. YIKES, the clock said 9:27 a.m. as my eyes first opened. My initial thought was -- I'll never make it. Yet, I jumped into my jeans, etc., brushed the teeth, slapped on a bit of eye makeup, took a minute to acknowledge the location and direction I was to travel in, and got in the car. The first thing I did was focus on my breathing, and took a deep breath to relax and get centered. The second thing was to thank God for the day, and to let him know I would honor him and myself, and not consider the roads a race track.

I maintained my speed, and arrived right on time. Regardless if gas prices slip a bit. I will stay on course.

Enjoy the day!!!!!!

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

The picture of Cumming Nature Center is real. I looked at the post, and to me, it looked unreal.

First, my VA and I are trying a few things with the blog.

Second, do you notice something about the different sides of the path? One side has green, the other is all brown. I thought that very interesting, and I did not think to ask about it. I don't remember that from a visit 15 years ago. This picture was taken during a visit the last part of June of this year.

Please be patient while we grow, experiment and change. Oh, not too much change to not be me, simply checking out possibilities and other "stuff."

Thank you all - and, hey---- have a nice day!

"How The Way We Talk Can Change The Way We Work"

The title line contains the name of a book by Robert Kegan & Lisa Laskow Lahey. I am reading it right now. It is not a new book.

If you are a person who is working and grumbling, I suggest this book. If you are a grumbling manager or manage a group of people who are grumbling and complaining, I suggest you read this book. I have not gotten past the first chapter, and I want to re-read it. This book may have to be a purchase.

Even those people who complain with a sense of humor. The one everyone laughs at and with. Complaints, etc. will undermine productivity, creativity, and the process of simply finding joy in every second.

I'm still around, simply into projects and the summer. Tennis lessons, bible study, coaching clients, are all things I truly enjoy. I am very grateful. How about you?

Suggestion: What are you grateful for? Consider choosing 5 things for your home environment. Then, separately, choose 5 things for your work environment. If not difficult - pick 5 more. Difficult? Pick 5, then wait 5 days, revisit those 5. Then be more clear, more concise on what you are actually grateful for. It might change. Don't let this be difficult in itself. Whatever pops into the head the first time through, write it down.

INTEGRITY

Synonyms for Integrity: Honesty, truth, reliability, honor, veracity, to name a few.

Personally, I love that word, and wonder, from my perspective, where it might have disappeared to.

Integrity is a "value." Values are a conversation I have with clients. I coach to assist first their recognizing and determining their values and then to take steps to connect and identify with each value. Values seldom change; however, they may change in priority.

My recent observation on this missing integrity topic appeared with my work in real estate. There are many county clerks in this country who consider receiving checks and money more important than the validity of the recording document(s).

It appears to matter not what document they receive. the first step is cash the check, record it and move on. If an error is discovered, there is no accountability. We received it, we just record it.

One "East" county recorded a property physically located in the "West" county. They also cashed a check payable to West ______ County. Unfortunately, yes, the papers were sent to the wrong county. Yet, the error was realized when the "East" county returned the recorded documents with a note stating that they should be recorded in the "West" county. The money was not returned. A new check had to be drawn, and the documents then forwarded to the "West" county for recording.

Another example. A tax payment was sent to a county with an accompanying letter. The letter provided the account number, borrower's name, and address. The account number had a number wrong. The mistake was not the county's fault as they "just" look at the account number. The tax payment was credited to the wrong person's account. It was 4 years later that this mistake appeared. That was odd in itself. However, the county would not assist, as that is their policy - to simply look at the account number. The person who received the "windfall" tax payment in error was eventually contacted and with INTEGRITY, they returned the money to its source.

Another word is "accountability" or simply doing what is just. Perhaps this might be another example of being -- right and being wrong. Who really wins?

It is a very slippery slope when an answer is, "We just......"

What have you noticed?

Suggestion: Simply, be aware.

REAL or FICTION

Recently I forwarded an email message that I had received. I don't do it often. However, I do receive quite a bunch of emails that claim to be written by this person, or this fact is true, etc. etc. When I forwarded a recent email to my son, he promptly returned a couple links that I would like to share with my readers and others.

You might have seen one purportedly written by George Carlin recently.

If you question the validity of an email you receive here are a couple links that may help.

THOUGHTS

WOW -- Thank you to all who post, I continue to say sharing is wonderful. Roy, thanks so much for not only volunteering to do the "math" or statistics on slowing down, yet, also, acknowledging you are busy and will be doing it. That was so exciting for me to see. THANK YOU!!!

Also, the comment from Jimbo regarding "competing" with his wife to save gas. BRILLIANT! How can you NOT -- WIN. Simply BRILLIANT. There was a previous comment regarding some friends trying to slow down. How about anyone who is into being technical, or likes competition, or...... begin a fun contest with neighbors, friends. Who can make less stops at the gas station? Save the most gas? Take the savings and have a party. Save it for the Jerry Lewis Telethon, or another worthy cause - and, each of you is very worthy. Yet, there is something about sharing.

I finally went last evening, mainly because it was convenient. I went to the station I wanted to go to in MY time. Not the closest, most expensive, simply because I had to.

OK - and I did chuckle. I made a statement and a bunch of you have called me on it. I will begin to write something more substantial. Yet, right now -- Time for a snack and to bed.

Sweet dreams if in the East - have a nice evening or.. in the West - and in general, laugh, love and simply be joyful. Because, - well, why not, it feels so much better than anything else. I thank you all SO much for your support and your support for each other. GREAT job.

Cheers!

ME - WRITE A BOOK?

WOW - I'm flattered, yet, as always, here goes curiosity. What would the book look like? I actually have a couple ideas, and one day, I just might produce a book. Yet as the comments rolled in recently (THANK YOU to all of you - it truly is wonderful to hear, and you likely have no idea how your comments help others too), I began to think about books, in general.

I took a look at my book shelves and discovered more than one that I had purchased with the idea of likely doing something with the contents. And, there they sit, somewhat incomplete in a fashion. Sentences are underlined, notes taken, days passed, and they were put on the shelf.

What a marvelous summer project I have outlined for myself. I am going to choose a book, then pick it down to the bones. Rather like sucking the meat off a bar-b-q pork rib.

And, when I do write the book that is rolling around inside of me, it likely will be announced here first.

Happy Summer!!!!

P.S. Oh, going slower truly does work - It has been almost 2 weeks since I filled up, and I'm still going, likely into Sunday before I will need to fill up again. That will be two weeks, actually. I consider it a real victory when I can't remember when I was last in a gas station. Oh, I have a Honda Civic. YIPEE!!!!!! Another vantage point, is that I saved some gas for someone else to use. Some people truly do need a large vehicle, yet others...... Plus, I'm not losing any time - in fact, I have more time to - you might have guessed it .......

"Squeeze joy from each second........, "

READ A CLASSIC THIS SUMMER, OR?

Happy day after July 4th!!!!

I am enjoying a long weekend, with fun, removing tolerations (clearing up papers, moved furniture, and making discoveries, such as - wow, that is where it went.......) Basically, lightening up.

Here is a website -- gutenberg.org, if you are looking to read a classic on a hot summer day and the library might be closed.

"There are over 25,000 free books in the Project Gutenberg Online Book Catalog. A grand total of over 100,000 titles are available at Project Gutenberg Partners, Affiliates and Resources. If you don't live in the United States, please check the copyright laws of your country before downloading or redistributing a book."

A-Tidbit is designed to offer tidbits - and this is an example of another.

Best wishes for a very sweet day! You are the designer of your day - create, create, create - and, don't hesitate to share with others. Let us know what you are doing, you just might be the inspiration for another.

Kayaking might be in my day today -

THINK GREEN - TOPIC D

It also, seems to me, by slowing down it is rather like --- playing fair in the sand box again!!!

What I have noticed by slowing down when driving:

MORE $$ - MORE Creative Time - MORE enjoyment while driving

LESS Gas Used - LESS Personal Stress - LESS Stress on the Brakes and Tires (change lanes less and don't use the brakes as often) - LESS time at the gas station and mechanic - LESS chance of being involved in an accident. It also provides more time to react or respond when needed.

These are advantages I noticed by simply driving slower. This might not seen like "Topic D" as I mentioned going slower before. Yet again, it also is about playing nice in the sand box.

Suggestion: It seems somewhat logical - fill up less often -- will save money and time spent at the gas station. Both are valuable for me. It might not seem like much at the moment - yet over a year? Anyone want to do the math? Not my favorite. There must be a reader out there who "loves" to analyze or run numbers. Please give it a go for all of us

And, I did not change my habits other than slowing down. Last weekend, I drove 45 minutes each way to play golf.

Next post - Leader vs.

THINK GREEN - TOPIC C

A HUGE thank you for all comments on the last post. All provide wonderful examples of the advantage of grouping with others to make changes.

Also, THANK you for sharing your experiences and thoughts which can only benefit others as they stop by and view the blogs. It is exciting to not only see, yet feel, the energy this community is creating.

SUGGESTIONS AND THOUGHTS: Together let's find ways to generate more awareness so others can benefit from the experiences we are having. How to encourage and build more awareness around the many, many advantages of slowing down. I'm thinking of a bumper sticker - maybe -- Slower = More $$$ in Your Pocket -- and another -- Slower = Respect for Others, and/or.......... please post ideas. DRIVE SLOWER = ONE Person CAN Do Something!!!!!!

What are you thinking?

Biking and taking the bus are wonderful options, if they are available to people.

Here's another - search for a carpool on either Yahoo or Google, there are many. What a great way to meet people and save money and car stress as it will sit more. If you are concerned about working late, start now to think of options. How much is a cab, call a friend, etc.

THINK GREEN - TOPIC B

HELLO EVERYONE -- The term THINK GREEN is now becoming overused for many lame causes and products, yet, it is a well known "PHRASE" for taking steps to create a more ecologically sound world -- I will use it.

Here is the suggested challenge. It may sound like a simple task, yet I challenge you to do it cheerfully, happily and for a whole day. Recently I wanted to create a bumper sticker to be placed on the bumper or back window. It will say - "I am driving my car, please, relax and drive your own."

I'm not suggesting that there aren't drivers on the roads that aggravate or don't need a lesson or two on how to drive. Yet, really, what does getting mad, or driving too fast, or blowing the horn, or my pet peeve, tailgating do to change THEIR driving habits.

Just like someone putting on the brakes, driving slower and all the other silly things people do to try to get someone to stop tailgating, or cutting them off, etc. They don't work either to change the habits of others.

When each and every person begins to drive respectfully, the roads will be safer and a greener place to drive. Tonight I watched as a car passed on the outside shoulder of the road, and cut in front of me. He then crossed two lanes of traffic to tail gate a car, changed lanes twice then managed to cross back over three lanes and get off at the next exit. He left the expressway right in front of me, and I did not change lanes once. Think of all the people he annoyed, and disrespected. All that shuffling got him nowhere faster.

If each person would respect others for who they are, and allow people to be who they are, they would be less agitated, and there would be less accidents on the roads.

I recently learned, acknowledged, and simply realized that when I allow people, whether they are in line at the grocery store, or a car on the highway, to make their own mistakes, my life has gotten so much better. I am saving gas by not racing to keep someone from cutting me off. I'm more relaxed driving, and the music sounds better on the radio. I also find I am out of the equation when there is an accident, as I have removed myself from many precarious situations by simply allowing space.

Suggestion: Pick a day, and stick with it. All day, consider what you are doing to be important, yet, also respect other peoples' right to do that they are doing. Even if you think it "stupid" or whatever word you use. Use the thoughts -- "It is ok for me to drive my car, and it is ok for them to drive their car, even if they drive differently." Or, perhaps you discover words or a phrase that means something to you.

My wish for you all is safe, relaxed driving today and every day.

THINK GREEN

Every day I see another article or advertisement about "Thinking Green." Today it is with the "Homearama" here in Fairport. There, apparently is a "green" house.

The last few weeks while driving the x-way to work, I have been pondering the use, abuse, consumption, waste of energy, specifically gas for our cars.

It has created many, many, many thoughts and I will begin to share a few as the days go on. One is, if you want to save gas --- SLOW DOWN. Seriously, that is at the top of every conservation list I have seen. Where are we truly going that we have to drive 10-15 or more miles over the speed limit.

If you have been reading this blog, which I know many have lately. Oh, and thank you soooooo very much for your comments - they are appreciated, and I can also believe that each comment left is helping someone else. Perhaps not your intent, yet I believe that is a result. By commenting even if behind a shield of anonymity or secrecy, you are connecting with others. That is so powerful and energizing not only for me, yet for other readers.

OK, I digress --yet it is important to let you know I appreciate your support - so, if you are reading this every day, how would you like a challenge? I am serious about this one.

If I knew how to create a sign up thing on the Internet I would -- yet perhaps you can simply post a yes -- and then I will let you know what I suggest. OK - who is game? Don't be afraid, it won't hurt, honest.

Have a great weekend - I'm chillin this weekend, off to hang at a bed & breakfast and check out a couple wineries. Ahhh, time to chill to prepare to gear up.

Happy Weekend!!!!!!!

A THOUGHT......

"Live so that when your children think of fairness and integrity, they think of you."
- H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

If H. Jackson Brown, Jr. is new to you, here is a blip from wikipedia.org.

H. Jackson Brown, Jr. is an American author best-known for his book Life's Little Instruction Book which was a New York Times bestseller.

As is typical of -A Tidbit -- I saw this quote and wanted to share. How better to live like the words from Mahatma Gandhi, "Be the change you want to see in the world."

Pay it forward, so to speak.

Cheers !!!!!

DELETE FILES ON YOUR iPods

How to Delete Files From Your IPod

Discovered At: http://www.squidoo.com/how-to-remove-songs-from-your-ipod

Plug your iPod into a USB Port.

1. Open iTunes, if it does not automatically open.

2. In the left column, just under “Devices” select the arrow left of your iPod. Select music.

3. From the stored play-list highlight the song(s)/program(s) you want to remove, and press delete.

4. That's it, you're done.

5. To remove iPod, select your iPod, and select the "Eject" button in the lower right.

Note: Use the computer that you downloaded from to delete files from your iPod. If you accessed iTunes on Hank’s computer, to remove files on your iPod, you can only remove them using iTunes on Hank’s computer.

I am excited - I have been wanting to remove programs for a very long time. Share and enjoy. As you see, I did not invent it - yet, it has legs.

INTERESTING TO ME

I have added Adsense links to this blog post to offer opportunities to the readers. Just noticed a new one that I had not seen before - JC Penney. That, I think is cool. Did you know that you can go right too Google with a link on this site? Please enjoy the links, they are designed to help you.

You might think I get $ for clicks on the links. Well you are right. So far I have approximately $10 credit. For me, it truly is not about getting rich, it is about providing value.

Have a valuable day. My wish is you can acknowledge how much richer your life is each day as you let go of negative thought weights, paradigms and stuff in general.

Cheers - and let me know what is making your life easier these days!

ADJUSTING

It may seem as though I have not posted a blog in a long, long time. At least it does to me. I miss communicating with the world. It occurred to me this morning that when change or differences occur, it is very beneficial to allow sufficient time to make whatever adjustments are necessary. In addition to taking ample time to make adjustments, equally important is to being truly present during the process. It is important to have total focus to new surroundings, new people, new processes.

Although admirable, by wearing an "I can do it" attitude much is missed, when time and notice is not taken to what is happening all around in your life. An "I can do it" attitude might create blinders. For example, I could have stayed up last night into the "wee" hours to post a blog, after a very, busy, active day. Yet, I chose to sleep and get a good nights rest.

Oh, there are deadlines in life which need to be met. By taking time specifically focused on the new environment in conjunction with awareness of the other primary life sustaining environments (a previous blog, I'm fairly certain there is one) transitions and changes will take place with less stress on yourself and others in your life. The change in my employment environment, has affected my financial, social and apparel environments.

Also, there are environments and situations that occur which we have no "control" over. Examples of these are family members getting sick and being hospitalized, which creates other family members needing help, friends passing away, and promises previously made that need to be honored.

Suggestion: Take time each day to review your life as a whole, and be aware of and take steps to balance the significant environments in your life. Some will need more attention; yet, it will become easier to determine what is needed. Do what needs to be done, and not be "tempted" to do too much. Skip life's fireworks, and pay attention to each minute - which reminds me.

"Squeeze joy into each minute, time does not return, yet memories do."

MEMORIES CAN

BE A BIT TOO MUCH! I ran across a quote recently, and because of my recent quote, it resonated.

This is mine -- "Squeeze joy from each minute; time does not return, yet memories do."

And, here is the one I heard -- "When your memories exceed your dreams, the end is near." Unknown

I've missed blogging. A full-time job can get in the way a bit. -A Tidbit is not far away, and moving back to blog more about things that I find interesting. A different environment takes a bit of getting used to. I seem to have begun the process by joining a Friday morning breakfast group. Each Friday it is a different person's responsibility to bring in breakfast. Last Friday it was my day. I made granola bars from scratch, and purchased blueberry scones on the chance that the granola bars were more like bird food. Also, I added fresh strawberries for color. The granola bars were a hit; how could they not be with over a cup of light brown sugar. So it is back to the test kitchen to try another recipe with less sugar, yet maintain yummy flavor. Any suggestions WITHOUT raisins, by the way. I abhor raisins.

Suggestion: Again, if you are unsure what to do - simply take a step, move into your own "test" kitchen and try something. I once made mini cream puffs. The first two batches were thrown out, and the final batch was deemed a rousing success by many who attended a super bowl party. In fact when I arrived carrying them, it was announced - "The cream puffs are here." The laughs started there and continued.

Resurrect those dreams - test them out. Did you dream of being a cowboy? Go rent a horse. Or, OK, a pair of cowboy boots. Get back into the dream state - the vision state, the possibility state and have a ball.
