"Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee in it." I picked up this quote in an email today. It is from a story about a professor who invited his students in for coffee and a chat. He had several types of coffee cups sitting on the table for their use, some fancy, some mugs, etc.
When they were all sitting, all of the fancy cups had been selected. The focus was not on the content, it was on the outside. Or, did most people think that, it is about both. The content and how it is packaged is important. Now, if the test was that the "better" coffee was in the "plain" mugs and the "foo foo" mugs had watered down coffee, that might provide a more interesting situation. Yet, either way .........
Suggestion - get clear and specific on the target, the goal, the vision, the intention, the need, or the desire you want and then don't get distracted with tinsel, bows and loud music. Yet, if that "perfect" or series of perfect attributes are in attractive packaging, don't let that scare you either. Pretty things can be amazing, yet so can the opposite. The important thing is to get very, very, very clear on what you want. You just might find it in the strangest places. Simply stated - it might be in the details.
